Introduction:

Welcome to our latest feature overview. This guide provides a detailed explanation of Gatego's new guard permissions functionality, tailored to enhance and limit control within your yard management system. In this video, Gabriel, our Customer Success Manager, walks you through the steps needed to assign and manage these permissions effectively.

What are Guard Permissions?

Guard permissions are designed to regulate access levels for various users within the system, specifically targeting those responsible for managing movement within your yard. These permissions determine which actions a guard can execute, such as adding, viewing, editing, or removing movements.

Guards with only 'Add and View' permissions can create entries such as check-ins but cannot edit or remove them once they are made. For instance, creating a check-in for a truck with specified details is permissible, but any subsequent modifications are restricted.

Visualizing Movements:

After a movement is created, guards can view it but will see no options for editing or removing the entry. This ensures that only authorized personnel with the correct permissions can make changes.

Setting Up Guard Permissions:

  1. Navigate to Settings:

    • Access the settings page by clicking on the user's tab.

  2. Add a User:

    • Click on 'Add User' and select 'Guard' to open the permissions feature.

  3. Assign Permissions:

    • Previously, guards could only add, view, edit, and remove movements. Now, you can assign the necessary permissions that restrict guards to only adding or viewing movements, preventing them from making edits or deletions. This is useful if you want specific personnel handling modifications.

  4. Select Specific Permissions:

    • Choose either the 'Add and View' or 'Add, View, Edit and Remove' options based on your operational needs and the access the particular guard requires.

  5. Fill in Guard Details:

    • Enter the guard’s name, email, phone number, and set a password. This information will be used to create their user account with the specified permissions.

  6. Send Details Directly:

    • Optionally, you can send the permission details directly to the guard’s email for immediate access.
