To streamline your yard management and ensure only the right carriers get access to your yard follow this guide to add and authorize a carrier. Before diving into the guide, it's important to understand the difference between an "Authorized Carrier" and an "Unauthorized Carrier" in the Gatego system.

Authorized Carrier: This setting permits a carrier (both truck and trailer) to access a specific yard or several yards through a Check In process.

Unauthorized Carrier: This setting enables a carrier (Truck only) to enter a specific yard or yards via Check In. This type of carriers may not enter their own brand trailers.

Step 1

  • Navigate to app.gatego.io

  • Enter your login credentials

  • Click "Sign In"

Step 2

  • From the 'Overview' or main dashboard, locate and click on the "Settings" option.

Step 3

  • Inside the 'Settings', find the "Carriers" section and click on it.

Step 4

  • Add a New Carrier or Select an existing Unauthorized Carrier

  • To add a new carrier:

    • Click on the "Add Carrier" button.

    • Fill out the form that appears:

    • Carrier Name: Enter the name of the carrier.

    • Country: Choose the country of the carrier. If selecting the US, you will be prompted to enter the USDOT number. If selecting Mexico, input the RFC.

    • SCAC: A unique two to four-letter code used to identify transportation companies. It is assigned by the NMFTA. This field is optional.

    • Select the yard(s) the carrier should have access to.

    • Click on the "Authorize" checkbox to grant the carrier permission to access the yard(s).

    • Max Capacity: If authorized, set a limit of trailers a carrier can have inside the yard at the same time. This field is Optional

  • To authorize an already listed unauthorized carrier:

    • Find and click the unauthorized carrier from the list.

    • Click on the "Edit" button.

    • While editing, click the "Authorize" checkbox to provide them access.

    • Click on the "Update" button to save the changes.

Managing which carriers have access to your yard(s) is crucial for security and efficiency. By correctly adding and authorizing carriers in Gatego, you can maintain a smooth flow of operations.
